A heritage of missions
We serve actively on mission in our community and beyond.
From its early years, Vienna Baptist Church has found creative ways to serve. In 1964, we hosted a Cuban refugee family, and in 1975 we sponsored a Vietnamese family. Other mission activities through the years have included the 50/90 Club, beginning in 1968; a Mother’s Day Out program started in 1971 that eventually became the Vienna Baptist Children’s Center; ministry to the Ayr Hill adult home; Our Daily Bread food delivery beginning in 1988; and participation in such other community ministries as the Committee for Helping Others and the Shepherd’s Center.
From its beginning, VBC has contributed financially to local, state, national, and international Baptist mission efforts. We give 10 percent of general funds to a wide variety of missions, and we also collect three special mission offerings each year. These offerings are the World Hunger Offering through the Baptist World Alliance’s Baptist World Aid; American Baptist Churches’ Global Missions; and American Baptist Churches’ America for Christ campaign.
