VBC has a long tradition of spiritual formation for adults of all ages.
- Bible study, silent retreats, drama, music, art classes
- Gatherings for men and women focused on building friendships, finding support and growing together.
On Sunday mornings from 9:30 to 10:30 we offer these Bible study classes for adults:
Growth and Fellowship | Room 229
This class for adults of all ages uses an excellent curriculum published by Smyth & Helwys, a respected Baptist-related press, and class members each have copies of the quarterly literature so they can read the lesson before Sunday morning. The Growth and Fellowship Class is led by Ward Kay.
Explorers | Room 232
The Explorers Class is self-directed, and does not follow a denominational curriculum. Rather, the class usually studies a book of the Bible in depth while drawing upon commentaries and other resources as outlined in a weekly email from the teacher, Lewis Dozier. Currently, the class is participating in a study through the letters of Paul.
Adult Discipleship | Church parlor
Members of this class also follow an in-depth approach, usually focusing on a chosen book of the Bible for careful study. The group uses established commentaries by noted Biblical scholars to guide their study. The class also holds an annual retreat. The Adult Discipleship Class is led by Bets Thomas.
Young Adults | Room 230
The Young Adult Class is a welcoming and diverse place for deeper learning and meaningful relationships. You’ll find here young professionals, couples, singles, stay-at-home moms, stay-at-home dads and single parents. Our Sunday morning group provides a combination of exploring the Bible and discussing contemporary questions of faith. The Young Adults Class is led by Rev. Alison Dunn Almaguer.
