We invite you to join us as we gather together to remember the last week of Jesus’ life. Each service is unique and will help you to make this week a time of prayer, worship and reflection.
Thursday, April 13, 7:30 p.m.
Maundy Thursday Tenebrae Service
We will gather in the Worship Room to celebrate the Lord’s Supper and worship together in our annual Tenebrae service. Tenebrae, Latin for “shadows,” is one of the oldest traditions of the church for Holy Week, dating back to the eighth century. It presents the Passion of our Lord in dramatic form with the gradual extinguishing of candles marking the fading faithfulness of the disciples and the people who cheered Jesus into Jerusalem. Tenebrae service is a time to help us realize the total impact of the day that Jesus Christ died on the cross.
Friday, April 14, 3:00 p.m.
Ecumenical Good Friday Service
We will join the congregation of Our Lady of Good Counsel as well as other sister churches to walk the Stations of the Cross. This representation of the suffering and rejection of Jesus has been observed by Christians for centuries, and is a way to journey with Christ through those last days. We remember the passion of Jesus through prayers, Scripture reading, hymns, and reflection. This service will be held at OLGC, 8601 Wolftrap Road in Vienna.
Sunday, April 16, 11 a.m.
Resurrection Day Celebration
Please join us as we celebrate Christ’s resurrection through word, prayer, and song. During the service, children will be invited to Children’s Worship, where they will have an egg hunt and a telling of the Resurrection story.
